The complete guide for MailBuild customers

How to re-brand MailBuild as your own email marketing product

From day one, MailBuild was built to allow designers and creative agencies to re-brand the product as their own. To this end, we've made customizing the application for your agency and clients an extremely simple process. Below we highlight some of the key areas of your account you can customize, as well as some great case studies on customers who have been doing this successfully for their own clients.

1. Customize your account for each client

  • Host MailBuild at your very own domain

To keep your account completely private label, use our custom domain feature to host MailBuild at your own domain name such as mail.abcdesign.com. Once you set this up, we'll use your domain name for everything, including link and open tracking and subscribe forms to give you ownership of everything your clients see.

Set your own custom domain name

  • Change the interface to reflect your own brand

We make it easy for you to customize the entire look and feel of MailBuild to match your own brand. Simply select a color scheme that's the closest match and add your own logo to the login screen and header of every page in the app itself. We make no mention of MailBuild anywhere in the client version of your account so your cover's never blown. Click the "Customize" tab in your account to get started.

  • Let your clients log into their accounts from your own site

Instead of sending your clients to the login page we provide (which you can re-brand anyway), why not let them log in directly from your own site. We provide the login form code so you all you need to do is copy and paste it into your own site and you're done. You can even set your own logout page, so when your clients log out they can be directed straight back to your own login page on your site.

  • Integrate each client's subscribe process into their own site

Instead of using our generic confirmation pages, we let you customize the entire subscribe process for each client. Add the subscribe form code to your clients site. When they get a new subscriber, send them a confirmation email from your client and redirect them to a thank you page on your client's site. This seamless integration means that MailBuild is never exposed in the process.

  • Display the campaigns you send for each client on their own site

With a simple copy and paste of a single line of JavaScript, you can display all the campaigns you've sent for each client on their own web sites. You can even customize the details, sorting order and formatting used to completely integrate them into the design of each site.

  • Any page we host uses a generic domain customized for each client

Any functionality we need to host on our own servers, like the Forward to a Friend form or double opt-in confirmations is at a generic, brandable URL, such as yourclientname.forwardtoafriend.com. The URL's we use in your client's campaigns to track opens and link clicks uses a generic domain that never points back to MailBuild.

2. Add branded screenshots to your site

After you've completely customized the look and feel of your account to reflect your own brand, why not include screenshots of it on your web site, proposals and other marketing materials.

A great example of a rebranded interface

We have no problem with customers taking any screenshots from our site or their account itself and promoting them on their site as their own product.

3. Demo account - let your clients try before they buy

Taking the screenshots idea a step further, a number of customers have had the insight to use a demo client in their account. By doing this, you can send a number of test campaigns (anything sent to 5 or less recipients is free) to create a range of reports you can demo to your clients.

Once you've got some decent sample reports, you can include a login form on your site and display the login and password for the demo account. Now any potential customers can preview your email marketing system via your web site.

4. Set your own rates

Our powerful billing system gives you complete flexibility in how you charge your clients. You can stay out of it and let them pay us directly, set a marked-up rate over and above our prices and pocket the difference, or pay on their behalf and invoice them yourself. The best part is, you can set your billing and pricing options on a per-client basis.

Many of our customers mark-up the rates we charge and pass these inflated costs back to each client. Once your clients are set up and comfortable using their account, sit back and watch the monthly mark-up fees roll into your account. Even if your client pays with their own credit card, we never mention MailBuild, even on their credit card statement.
