The MailBuild API
Posted by Ben Richardson on August 9, 2006 1:42 PM
We've just put the finishing touches on the official MailBuild API, including plenty of documentation to help you get started. The API makes it a piece of cake to integrate your client's lists into an external application, like their CRM software or online store. On the simpler side, it also makes it dead easy to add an opt-in checkbox to any existing forms your clients might have.
The API is a little different to Campaign Monitor, in that you'll need to head into your account and actually generate an API key. The current methods focus on making it easy to add and remove subscribers from your client's lists.
We've got a number of additional methods that we plan on launching in the coming weeks to make the API even more flexible, as well as sample code in a number of different languages. If you plan on using the API for anything special then please let us know. We'd love to post examples here for others to learn from.

Guys!!!! I love this
Tell me is it possible to run both MailBuild (Clients sending simple emails) and Campaign Monitor (Us sending the complex stuff) from the same mailing database?
Cheers!

Hey Warren, cheers for the kind words. MailBuild and Campaign Monitor are actually 2 completely separate products, so you can't share a list between them I'm afraid.
From what we've seen, most of our customers who use both apps have some clients that like to manage their own lists and send their own emails (MailBuild) and others that just want them to do the lot for them (Campaign Monitor). We haven't really come across any that have clients who are a combination of both at this stage.

I can immediately see the need for API methods for managing lists. List.create(), List.update(), List.delete() method. Is this planned?
